On a warm Sunday afternoon in July, members of Mylan Hatfield’s after-work football team took part in a friendly tournament organised by Alliance Healthcare, one of the UK’s leading pharmaceutical wholesalers and part of Walgreens Boots Alliance (WBAD).
Over the last few years the employees of Alliance Healthcare have been raising and donating money to the European Organisation for Research and Treatment of Cancer (EORTC).
Money raised is to support the creation of the first pan-European Biobank for colorectal cancer, which has already raised over £3 million.
Called SPECTAcolor - Screening Patients for Efficient Clinical Trial Access – this unique initiative helps match colorectal cancer patients with the best available treatment based on the genetic make-up of their tumour.
Mylan Hatfield have previously sponsored this event but decided this year they would show their support on the field and took part in the football tournament.
Jamie Durbidge, UK Sales Director, said “'Mylan were approached to help support this important charity day, run by Alliance Healthcare, and were more than happy to step up to the challenge - in more ways than one! We entered a football team, into the competition, for the first time this year and had a really enjoyable and rewarding day. Alliance Healthcare (WBAD) are one of our leading global and local partners so to support them in their fundraising efforts, for this hugely important charity, was a pleasure. The day was excellent...more than can be said for our football!'”.
